Description
This pair of dovecotes, along with a linking outhouse, is located approximately 20 meters northwest of Stainton Vale Farmhouse. They date from the early to mid-19th century and are built from red brick in English garden wall bond, featuring clay pantile roofs with stone ridge copings and wooden ball finials. Each dovecote is two stories tall and has two bays. The left dovecote has doorways on both floors, while the right dovecote has a doorway only on the first floor. The single-story linking outhouse has a central blocked doorway flanked by two doorways, with the left one having a boarded door and a window at the right end. The right return of the right dovecote features patterned dove openings and a door on the right side. There are outbuildings to the southwest and at the rear of the left dovecote, but these are not of special interest. At the time of the last survey, the dovecotes were disused and in a dilapidated condition.
