Description
The Memorial Hall, located on the west side of Stainton and Meldyke Lane, is a National School built around 1844, with a one-bay extension added in the mid to late 19th century and a rear extension. The building features rough render with painted stone window surrounds and a plinth, topped by a renewed felt tile roof. It is a single storey structure with three windows. At the right end, there are mid-20th century double doors. The hall has hollow-chamfered 2-light mullioned windows with segment-headed lights and iron lattice glazing, all under hoodmoulds. A metal vent lantern with a conical roof and ball finial is situated on the ridge. The one-bay returns have round-headed windows with renewed glazing. The bargeboards have also been renewed. The rear of the building displays a shouldered lateral stack and a continuous outshut. The hall is included for its historic interest.
