Description
The Burdon table tomb, located 4 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, is a Grade II listed structure. This table tomb commemorates four members of the Burdon family who died between 1741 and 1821. It is made of sandstone and rests on a renewed concrete base. The tomb has an H-plan shape, consisting of a central slab and convex transverse ends, which gives it the appearance of a chest tomb with deeply recessed sides. It measures approximately 211 centimeters long, 106 centimeters wide, and 106 centimeters high. Both sides of the central slab feature an oval panel with an inscribed epitaph. The corners of the tomb are adorned with colonnettes that have a bold entasis. The table-top is corniced, and the returns are plain panelled, complete with a moulded plinth and cornice.
