Description
This building complex includes a barn, horse mill, stable, and cart shed, located approximately 10 meters north-west of Bonny Grove Farmhouse. The barn and stable date from the mid to late 18th century, while the upper parts of the barn's walls were rebuilt in the early to mid 19th century. The horse mill and cart shed were constructed in the early to mid 19th century. The structures are made of brick with clay pantile roofs.
The barn features a dressed sandstone plinth and random sandstone rubble in the lower part of the north gable end. It is arranged in an L-plan, with the horse mill attached to the east face of the barn. The barn has boarded double doors beneath a timber lintel on the south gable end, and the west wall has two doorways that are blocked with iron sheets. The horse mill is half-octagonal with a hipped roof, and it has four openings that were blocked in the early 20th century, with the south opening having a wooden gate. The mill machinery is missing.
The lower stable is attached to the west face of the barn and has two stable doors to the left of a hit-and-miss window, all featuring gauged-brick flat arches. The cart shed, which is next to the west end of the stable, has a single wide opening with a central iron pier beneath a timber lintel. The L-plan stable range to the north-west is not of special interest.
