Description
Nos 9 and 10 Horsemarket is a late 17th century or early 18th century building that stands three storeys tall and features four windows in total. The front is covered in stucco with raised quoins and a tall, stone-coped parapet above a steeply pitched pantiled roof. There are chimneys made of old brick at the centre and left end, which have been cut down. The building has raised keystones above recessed box frames that hold replaced sash windows, except for a mid to late 19th century canted oriel window on the first floor to the left. The ground floor has late 19th century small double shop fronts with slender cast iron columns at the corners and set back central doors, all framed by fluted pilasters and entablatures with dentil cornices. No 9 still has its central pediment, while No 10 has lost this feature. The basement windows are adorned with cast iron architraves and grilles.
