Description
The bandstand, located to the west of the bowling green in North Lodge Park, is a late 19th-century structure designed in an octagonal shape. It features a moderately low-pitched roof made of ribbed lead, shaped in an ogee style. The central pierced octagonal drum supports a ribbed lead dome, which is topped with a wrought iron crown and a spray finial. The bandstand is supported by eight slender cast iron columns that have acanthus mouldings above wider bases. These columns hold cast iron lateral and radial spandrel brackets adorned with floral ornamentation, and there is an ornamental frieze beneath the deep eaves. The handrail is currently missing. The base of the bandstand is constructed from red brick and has moulded stone coping.
