Description
North Lodge, also known as the Education Offices, is an early to mid-19th century villa that stands two stories tall and features seven windows, with the central three arranged in a round bow projection. The building is constructed of pinkish brick, accented with stone cills and lintels, a first-floor cill band, and a plinth. It has a low-pitched hipped slate roof with eaves soffits supported by curly console brackets. The sash windows include glazing bars, and those in the bow are curved. The ground floor windows in the bow are round-headed and framed by stone architraves and an impost string, with an ashlar wall below. The entrance is located on the left return and consists of a half-glazed double door with margin lights, set within a wooden pilaster-and-entablature doorcase. A stone prostyle Tuscan porch enhances the entrance. The rear elevation is similar but features a large canted bay. A plaque on the building notes that John Beaumont Pease (1803-1873) resided here.
