Description
The bridge over the River Skerne, built in 1880, was designed by engineer John Dunning and constructed by Pease and Fry. It features rock-faced ashlar, red brick, and cast iron materials. This single-span road bridge has straight ashlar side walls supported by square chamfered piers, each with a circular panel and a chamfered cap. The cast iron balustrades have a distinctive lattice design, with four iron panels below that are inscribed with the year 1880.
