Description
Northgate United Reformed Church is a late 19th-century church designed in a severe 13th-century style, constructed from coursed freestone. The west front features a tall gabled end with grouped lancet windows above a gabled porch. There is a square tower at the south-west angle, which transitions to an octagonal shape and is topped with a tall stone spire that has gabled windows breaking the eaves. The tower is supported by angle buttresses. The north side of the church has five gabled bays with very tall windows, and an undercroft that becomes a full storey at the back. This area includes another lower bay with a window on each floor and a door below, all featuring shouldered arches. The church serves as a prominent local landmark.
