Description

The Allison tomb, located approximately 14 metres south of the porch of the Church of St. Mary in Middleton in Teesdale, dates from around 1742 and commemorates Ann Allison. This headstone is made of sandstone ashlar and stands about 0.8 metres high. It features a scrolled top above an inscription and verse. The reverse side has several fielded panels, and there is a verse at the foot that is partly obscured by grass, likely continuing the verse from the front.
