Description

The two Tinkler tombs, located approximately 12 metres west of the porch of the Church of St. Mary, date from around 1742 and 1748. They commemorate Ann Tinkler and her father John Tinkler, along with other family members up to 1815. The tombs are made of sandstone ashlar slabs with shaped tops. Ann's tomb features a design resembling a broken scrolled pediment, while John's has paired segmental heads with a tooled edge. The inscriptions are located on the east face for Ann and the west face for John, with the reverse sides displaying three shaped fielded panels. Each tomb stands about 0.8 metres high.
