Description

The Durham County Council marker stone, likely from the early 19th century, is a square-section sandstone block approximately half a metre high with an arched top. It features a large, well-cut Roman capital "C" on the side facing the road. This stone marks the limit of the County's responsibility for the Oakley Cross West Bridge, which is now part of a renewed highway.
