Description

This garden wall, located 20 metres southeast of Gainford Hall, is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a massive, flat coping. The wall is approximately 0.7 metres thick and varies in height from 1.5 to 2.0 metres. It extends east for 20 metres, then south for about 40 metres, and finally south-east for about 20 metres. There is an opening at the northern end of the wall. A 19th-century loose-box is attached to the wall at the northern end, but it is not considered of special interest. The wall is included in the listing for its group value with Gainford Hall.
