Description
Emmerson Cottage, The Cottages and Muschamp House are a farmhouse and two cottages, now three separate houses, dating from the early 18th century. The exterior is pebble-dashed with painted ashlar dressings, an irregular plinth, and stone-flagged roofs. The building is laid out in an L-shape. The left part, Emmerson Cottage, has a glazed door with a surround of chamfered alternate blocks, stepped with a diagonal joint at the corners. It has a plain stone surround to the ground floor right window and four square windows on the first floor. The two cottages, 'The Cottages', to the right have paired renewed doors set in tooled stone surrounds between the second and third bays, and tooled stone lintels to three windows on each floor. The steeply-pitched roof of the left part has end chimneys, while the right part has a ridge and a right-end chimney. All chimneys are square with a top string course. A single-storey, four-bay pent roof extension is at the rear of the right part. A rear wing of the left part has been separated to become a separate house, Muschamp House.
Inside Emmerson Cottage, the ground floor panelled wall features a cupboard to the left, located beneath a keyed round architrave. A two-panel door is positioned to the right, contained within a pedimented doorcase with a carved finial.
