Description
Haswick's Bridge over the River Wear is a bridge built in the early and later 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared stone and rock-faced stone. The bridge features two large, deep segmental arches with double voussoirs. Between the arches, there is a cutwater that has a low, rounded buttress. The roadbed-level band and parapet have rounded coping. To the right, there is a later rock-faced section that includes an accommodation arch, which has brick voussoirs but is now blocked with stone below and boarding above. The parapet of this section slopes up to a low central peak.
