Description
The Park Level Mine Shop is a building dating from around 1860, originally constructed for the Beaumont Company. It served as a mine shop, which included stables, a smithy, and sleeping accommodation for miners, along with an office. The building was restored around 1983 and is now used as a museum and display area. It is made of coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and features a stone-flagged roof. The structure has two storeys and three windows, with boarded doors located between the ground-floor windows. All the windows have been renewed and feature external boarded shutters, each with flat stone lintels. The roof is topped with three ridge chimneys. On the left return gable, there are side steps leading to the first-floor sleeping accommodation. This building is included in the heritage listing for its historical significance as a relic of lead-mining practices in the dales.
