Description

This is a county bridge marker, likely from the early 19th century, located in a recess in the outhouse of No. 1 Etherley Spring Gardens. It marks the limit of Durham County's responsibility for the Spring Gardens Bridge, which has since been rebuilt. The marker is made of sandstone and is a square section block approximately 40 centimeters high, featuring a large incised Roman capital "C" on the side facing the road.
