Description
The School House, located on Front Street in Ebchester, is a mid-18th century building. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins and ashlar dressings, which are rebated. The roof is made of Welsh slate. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance features a six-panel door with an overlight, flanked by 16-pane sash windows in the outer bays. All windows and the door are set in raised stone surrounds with alternate-block jambs. There are two ashlar chimneys at each end of the building. The rear elevation includes a full-width outshut beneath a catslide roof. A high rubble wall encloses the rear yard on the south side and features some flat coping, along with a flat stone lintel over a boarded door.
