Description

The Former Rectory is a private house that was originally built as a rectory in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with large quoins and ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring stone gable copings and chimneys made of ashlar and yellow brick. The building has an L-plan layout consisting of three sections: the first is two storeys high with two bays, the second adds a third bay, and the third is a right wing that projects forward, consisting of two lower storeys and three bays.

The main front of the two-storey, three-bay section features a central one-storey gabled porch that contains a renewed door and windows on the sides. The outer bays have renewed 16-pane sash windows, with the right bay being wider, and there is a tall 18-pane stair window above the porch, all having flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills. To the right of the porch, there is a small fixed light window with a similar design. The wing has a front gable with boarded vehicle doors beneath a stone lintel and a 20th-century window above, also with a stone lintel and sill. The left return of the wing showcases various windows, including a three-light horizontal sliding sash on the ground floor and a wide 16-pane sash above. Most windows are fitted with panelled window shutters. The stair features a ramped handrail supported by stick balusters. The interior has not been inspected.
