Description

The Kipling tomb, located approximately 6 metres southeast of the porch of the Church of St. Mary, dates from around 1759 and commemorates John Kipling, as well as Elizabeth Kipling, who died in 1763. It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a segmental-headed moulded slab that stands about 0.8 metres high. The east face of the tomb has an inscription dedicated to John and other family members, while the west face is more elaborate, with a shaped top panel and an inscription for Elizabeth Kipling, presented over a saltire.
