Description
The garden and yard walls at Old Park Hall Farmhouse are listed as a significant structure. They date mostly from the early 18th century and include a medieval ruin. The walls are constructed from sandstone rubble, with ashlar dressings and quoins, and feature brick and render coping on the garden wall that faces the road.
The garden wall has a polygonal shape and includes a gateway at the southeast that leads from the field. Attached to the southeast of the garden wall is the yard wall, which is L-shaped. This wall has piers on either side of the entrance to the field on the west side, and it incorporates the ruins of the house on the south side. The garden wall stands approximately 2.5 meters high and has irregular flat stone coping, with quoins at each corner. At the southeast corner, there is a Tudor-arched chamfered gateway with alternate-block jambs and a large, tooled lintel.
The yard wall features two square piers with rebated inner edges in the western section. The southern section of the yard wall is one meter high and includes a wide rectangular chamfered window with holes for horizontal bars, which is a remnant from the manor house.
