Description
The Rose Arbour, located to the west of Whitworth Hall, is a Grade II listed structure, likely built in the mid-19th century. It is said to have been brought from Italy. The arbour is constructed from sandstone ashlar and wrought iron. It features a circular bench that connects six round piers, which have modified Corinthian capitals with volutes but no leaves. The structure is supported by intermediate lyre-shaped pedestals. The tall square plinths of the piers and the circular top frieze are adorned with low-relief decoration. The open domed top is made of iron scrollwork. The arbour has been relocated from the deer park.
