Description

The Parkin tombs, located about 12 metres south-west of the porch of the Church of St. Mary in Middleton in Teesdale, date from around 1793. The headstone commemorates John Parkin, who was the son of John Parkin Senior, a bridge builder from Staindrop. John Parkin died on February 14, 1793, at the age of 78. The headstone is made of sandstone ashlar and features a half marigold carved in a segmental head, standing one metre high.
