Description
This field barn, located 55 metres south-east of High Birk Hat Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of squared rubble with dressed stone details and features a stone-flagged roof.
The barn is tall, single-storey, and has four bays with rough alternating quoins. On the left side, there is a pair of boarded doors set in a segmental-arched opening, which has tooled voussoirs and alternating jambs. To the right, there is a breather and patched masonry. The roof is low-pitched.
The gabled ends and rear of the barn have throughstones, and there is a first-floor opening on the left side of the rear. This building is included for its group value.
