Description

No. 128 Gilesgate is an early 19th-century house constructed from coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings. It features a Welsh slate roof and a brick chimney. The building has wedge stone lintels above the renewed door and sash windows, which also have projecting stone sills. A ridge chimney is present. Above the door, there is a stone low relief approximately 15 centimeters high, depicting a figure of a woman leaning on a classical half-column, which is said to have come from Old Durham.
