Description

This is a dovecote located 120 metres north of Headlam Hall, dating from the 17th century or earlier. It features a sandstone rubble exterior and a dressed sandstone interior, with a circular plan measuring about 5 metres in diameter. The structure has a tapering, slightly convex elevation that stands approximately 4 metres high, with two stages marked by projecting stone bands. There is a small opening at ground level with a chamfered surround. Inside, the dovecote contains nesting boxes and alighting ledges. The domed roof, made of rubble, has collapsed into the interior. At the time of the survey, the dovecote was derelict.
