Description

Middleton Bridge is a road bridge over the River Tees, built around 1800 and repaired in 1984. It is constructed from snecked, dressed sandstone, with both faces being similar in appearance. The bridge features a segmental arch, which includes set-back voussoirs and a projecting arch band, along with two blind roundels in each spandrel. The parapet, marked by a band at road level, has segmental coping, rebuilt inner walls, and slightly-splayed ends. This bridge spans the parishes of Holwick and Middleton-in-Teesdale.
