Description
The Former Miner's Hall, dated 1875, is a two-storey building constructed from sandstone ashlar. It features four bays, with a tower above the fourth bay. The ground floor has been altered for 20th-century shops. The first floor is distinguished by pilasters that define the bays, with round-headed windows set in recessed arches. The rightmost window is smaller and has a pediment within an architrave. The rusticated pilasters are adorned with paterae at the necking. An inscribed top entablature is present, and the balustraded parapet is topped with globe and square finials. The two-stage octagonal tower includes round-headed slits and angle pilasters, culminating in a high octagonal dome with two ball-and-spike finials.
