Description

Nos. 54 and 55 Crossgate are two houses built in the early 18th century. They feature painted incised stucco and have a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have three windows. Between the second and third bays, there are paired flushed doors set in a moulded pegged surround. No. 54, on the left, has sash windows with glazing bars and projecting stone sills, as well as a window in a wide ridge dormer that breaks the eaves. No. 55 has a 16-paned sash window on each floor and a 19th-century slate dormer with slate-hung cheeks. There are no visible chimneys.
