Description

These are three mid-19th century houses located on the south side of Allergate. They are built of Flemish bond brick with painted ashlar dressings, and have plinths to the front of No. 6. The roofs are covered in Welsh slate. Each house is two storeys high and two bays wide, resulting in a total of six bays across the three properties.

Each house has a four-panelled door, with margined overlights above the doors of Nos. 4 and 5, and a plain overlight at No. 6, as well as a yard entry between Nos. 5 and 6. The doorways have flat stone lintels, except for No. 6, which features a doorcase consisting of pilasters and an entablature. The windows are sash windows; Nos. 4 and 5 have glazing bars and flat stone lintels with projecting stone sills. No. 6 has a tripartite sash window to the right, set within an architrave with a projecting stone sill, and above that, an oriel window with a modillioned cornice. Each house has an end brick chimney. A boot-scraper recess is located beside each door.

The buildings are included on the list because of their group value alongside No. 7.
