Description

The building is an animal pound located 50 metres north of the Pack-horse bridge in Headlam. It is likely from the early 19th century. The pound features dry sandstone rubble walls that are approximately 1.5 metres high, enclosing a rectangular area measuring about 15 by 25 metres. There is a narrow opening in the middle of the south wall, which has a boarded gate and dressed piers. The corners of the structure are made with roughly dressed quoins.
