Description
No. 23 High Green is a house from the early 19th century, with later additions from the 19th century. It is built of sandstone ashlar and features a green slate roof with ashlar stacks. The front of the house is two stories high and has four bays, with a low plinth, a first-floor sill band, and raised and chamfered quoins. On the left side, there are two 4-pane sash windows in raised surrounds, while the right side has two early 20th-century square bay windows. On the first floor, there are three 4-pane sashes in raised surrounds to the left and an early 20th-century tripartite window in a raised surround to the right. The rear of the right return includes a 6-panel door with a 2-pane overlight in a raised surround. The moderately-pitched roof has an eaves cornice and coped gables, with two corniced gable stacks and an off-centre corniced ridge stack. There is a two-story, two-bay wing attached to the right rear, and single-storey outbuildings attached to the left rear, which are not of special interest.
