Description
The gas house, dated 1910 for Lord Barnard, is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with stone gable copings and brick chimneys. It is two storeys high and has six irregular bays, with the end bays topped by gables at the front. The right end bay projects and includes high round-headed double doors set in alternate-block jambs and voussoirs, along with a louvred chamfered slit in the gable peak. The left end bay features a chamfered square-headed surround for double doors and displays the date panel in the gable peak. The ground floor has large rectangular windows with glazing bars situated between the gables, and a loading door is located in the third bay beneath a gabled half-dormer. A large square chimney rises from the fifth bay, topped with gabled louvred coping. Low square-headed dormers with glazing bars are positioned on either side of the half-dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
