Description

This is a medium-sized farmhouse, dating to the early 17th century, with a later addition to the right and alterations in the 19th century. The left section is built of dressed limestone, while the right section has a front of coursed limestone rubble, and a rear of 19th-century brick. The roof is covered with Welsh slate, and the chimneys have been rebuilt in brick. The building is arranged in a "T" shape, with a central gabled stair wing located at the rear of the left section.

The farmhouse has two storeys and five bays on the left side, with two additional bays on the right. The left side has three ground-floor openings; a 20th-century glazed porch with a door is on the right, and above it is a re-set square datestone inscribed with the initials “I.T.” and “A.T.” and the date “1701”. To the left of the porch are two restored tall four-light double-chamfered mullioned windows, each with a hoodmould. Other windows, now set in 19th-century openings, have flush lintels, projecting sills, and replaced eight-pane sashes, except for a small two-pane sash under the hoodmould above the datestone. The steeply-pitched roof has gables and chimneys on the right side. The left return gable has been rebuilt in brick.

The lower rear section of the older part of the farmhouse has a projecting three-storey stair wing with a two-light double-chamfered mullioned window. The stair wing has a coped gable with shaped kneelers. A single-storey rear outshut on the left has a 12-pane horizontal sliding sash window in a double-chamfered surround.

A short section of wall is attached to the left return, with a pair of tall square gate piers with flat-topped pyramidal caps. The pier closest to the house has a ball finial.

Farmbuildings and 20th-century additions to the right and rear are not of special interest.
