Description
The Middleton Working Men's Club is a house that has been converted into a club, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from herringbone-tooled coursed squared sandstone, featuring painted projecting dressings and quoins. The roof is made of graduated green slates with stone gable copings. The building stands three storeys tall and has four bays.
The ground floor has been altered, featuring a 20th-century six-panel door in a pedimented doorcase on the left, along with a stone surround for a wide window that includes two lights, a blank panel, and four lights, all fitted with 20th-century glazing. The first floor has tooled stone surrounds for 12-pane sash windows that have fine glazing bars, while the second floor has 9-pane sash windows with broader glazing bars. The roof is adorned with flat stone gable coping on moulded kneelers, which have drop moulding at the front, and there is an end chimney.
On the left side, there is a 20th-century ground-floor window and two attic windows with plain stone surrounds. The rear features a flat stone surround for a central round-headed stair sash window with glazing bars. A 20th-century rear extension is noted but is not of interest.
