Description
The Queen's Head Public House is a public house located in Bishop Auckland, originally built in the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century addition and 20th-century alterations. The exterior features painted rough render, a painted plinth, and ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with synthetic tiles and has brick chimneys.
The building is two stories high and has three windows on the front. There is a boarded yard door on the left, set in a raised rendered surround, and a half-glazed 20th-century door in an architrave located between the second and third windows. The windows have been renewed with top-hung casements over plain fixed lights, and the ground-floor windows flanking the door have brick sills. The third window on the right is notably wide. The three first-floor windows feature top-hung imitation sashes, all with projecting stone sills. The second window on the ground floor is positioned to the left of the second ground-floor window. The roof is higher over the two left bays, which includes a large central ridge chimney and two gable chimneys on the right.
