Description

The former Roman Catholic Chapel at St Woolos Cemetery is a Gothic-style building with a single chamber plan. It is constructed of red rubble sandstone with Bathstone detailing and features a high plinth. The chapel has a steeply gabled slate roof with coped gables, made of alternating bands of blue and purple slates, and is adorned with large carved crucifix finials. There are low buttresses at each end of the blank long sides.

The entrance faces south and is set within a tall arched surround, which includes ashlar voussoirs, chamfered reveals, and plain imposts. The door has a flattened head and consists of paired boarded doors with iron branched hinges. There is simple tracery in the tympanum, which is currently hidden by protective boarding, and a small spherical window above it. A similar window is located above the eastern triplet.

The chapel is currently used for storage and features a scissor-truss roof. Inside, there is a painted stone altar table supported by two columns that have foliage caps.
