Description
The former Mortuary Chapel at St Woolos Cemetery is a building designed in a simple Gothic style, featuring a small single chamber plan. It is constructed from red rubble sandstone with buff-coloured sandstone detailing. The chapel has a steeply gabled roof, which has been replaced with artificial slate. There are low corner buttresses and a large window in the shape of a spheric lozenge on each gable, although these windows are currently boarded over. The entrance is located in the center of the eastern elevation and is slightly projecting with a gabled roof. It has boarded doors with a four-centred head, where the voussoirs rise to a central peak. To the left of the entrance, there is a small blocked cruciform loop, and to the right, a small window. On the western side, there is a small window to the left of the center. The chapel is currently used for storage, but it was not inspected during the survey in April 1999.
