Description
The former brewhouse dates from the 17th century or earlier and has undergone significant later alterations. It has an 'L' shaped plan and features elevations made of random rubble, accented with red-brick arches and quoins around the windows and doors. The base of the walls has a gentle batter. The main section of the building is oriented on a northwest-southeast axis, running parallel to the Great Barn, and includes a single axial brick stack at the northern end.
The principal northeast elevation displays asymmetric fenestration, featuring four four-light timber casements with leaded lights on the first floor and four similar windows on the ground floor. The doorway is offset to the southern end, accessed by a small flight of stone steps. The southern gable has four three-light windows, also offset to the right, with doorways at both the first and ground floor levels on the left side. Access to the first floor is provided by a modern steel staircase.
At the rear, a two-storey gabled wing projects to the southwest, with doorways at each end and three small round-headed windows on the first floor, offset to the left. The northwest gable features a modern single-storey glazed porch with two similar leaded timber casements on the ground floor, and a centrally placed window above. At the top, there is a gabled timber bellcote supported by two timber gallows brackets resting on stone corbels. The building has been modernized and converted for use as a restaurant.
