Description
At the southeast end of the path through the walled garden, there are two substantial square brick gate piers, each approximately 4 meters tall and built in Flemish bond. They feature shallow stone plinths and projecting moulded coping, topped with square urn finials that have a cup and cover design, scrolled acanthus at the base, and gadrooned covers. The entrance has simple double iron gates with a plain semicircular overthrow and a guilloche lock bar.
To either side of the piers, random rubble walls (northeast and southwest) step down and may date back to the enclosure of the Tudor house, as they now form the rear walls of the workshops. The workshops are an "L" shaped range of late 19th-century agricultural buildings, with brick front elevations and large segmental arched former cartshed openings that have keystones, now filled in with modern glazed timber doors. The roofs are hipped and slated, with the southwest range featuring three hipped, louvered ventilators and large multi-paned ribbon windows. At the north end, three large arched brick doorways have been infilled with boarding.
