Description
The former Llantilio Estate Laundry at Llewyncelyn is a small estate laundry building from the late 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a gabled slate roof with an off-centre brick stack. The ridge of the roof has a small louvred ventilator topped with a gabled slate canopy.
The southwest front is single-storey and has an irregular layout, with a boarded door on the left and a 4-light mullion window on the right, which has a configuration of 2+2+2+2 panes and a stone sill. The northeast elevation includes a 2+2 casement window on the right and a similar 2+2+2+2 casement window on the left. The southeast gable features boarded half doors on the left and a 3+3 casement window on the right. The opposing northwest gable displays a stone shield in the gable-head inscribed with "H M J 1878." On the ground floor, there is a 2+2 pane casement window in the centre, which has a skewback lintel made of stone voussoirs and an angled dripstone, along with a stone sill.
Inside, the building has a two-unit layout. Entry is through a stone-flagged wash-house, and a boarded door leads into a three-bay laundry area on the right. The roof features scissor trusses with kingposts and one tier of purlins.
