Description
Minafon, formerly known as Pentre Llawen Woollen Factory, is a large two-storey building with a basement located to the north, alongside a river. At the western end, there is a lower, narrower gabled unit that likely served as the entrance and possibly the office. The structure is built of rubble stone with quoins and features a slate roof topped with a wide yellow brick ridge stack at the rear of the entrance unit.
The symmetrical gable façade has two windows and a central entrance, which is sheltered by a shallow open stone porch with a flat stone roof. The porch contains a 20th-century part-lit panelled door, flanked by narrow four-pane horned sash windows that have replaced timber lintels. Above these, similar windows are aligned. The main range has irregularly placed openings, most of which feature 20th-century small-pane top-hung wooden windows. To the right of the entrance unit, there are French doors, while to the left, there is a lean-to that may have been associated with a former water-wheel. Above the lean-to, there is a small-pane window.
On the southern side, which faces the road, there is a central inset first-floor loading doorway with a boarded door and a long timber lintel. Beneath and flanking this doorway are small-pane wooden windows, with the latter positioned immediately under the eaves. The eastern gable end has irregularly placed windows, including three on the lower storey, with the left one being top-hung and featuring plain glazing. The first floor has small-pane windows on the left and in the centre, the latter being larger than the others and supported by a steel lintel. At the gable apex, there is a large circular vent that is currently unglazed. The northern elevation is irregular with two windows; those on the ground floor are two-light plain-glazed casements, likely from the late 20th to early 21st century, and there is a small-pane window at the bottom right that lights the basement.
Access to the interior was not available at the time of inspection.
