Description
The former cottage and outbuildings at Ty'n y Llwyn form an H-plan layout, with the cottage located at the southern end. The buildings are constructed of rubble stone and topped with slate roofs. The two-storey cottage features three windows and sits on a large stone plinth, but it no longer has chimney stacks. There is a central doorway with a timber lintel, although the door is missing, and it is flanked by small window openings, including part of a two-light wooden casement on the right. The three upper-storey windows have been infilled with red brick. The east gable end has a first-floor doorway accessed by a flight of stone steps, indicating that the upper storey may have been converted into a granary. Narrow joists extend from the west gable, suggesting they once supported a structure, possibly a nesting box. At the rear, there is a two-light wooden window to the left of the upper storey, with a long central range adjoining at right angles to its right.
On the west side of the central range, there is a doorway to the right with a renewed timber lintel and two ventilation slits above. Evidence of rebuilding is present, as well as indications of a former lean-to. The east side of the range has no openings, but remnants of a former window with a stone sill can be seen.
The range at the northern end, which may have served as a cart-shed, features a wide opening with a timber lintel on the east gable end, and its gable is clad in weather-boarding; this elevation appears to have been partially rebuilt. A raked stone buttress supports the north side of the building. The south gable has an inset two-light window with a stone lintel, beneath which a garage has been constructed against the range. This garage is made of rubble stone with a gabled slate roof, double planked doors at the west end, and open lean-tos on each side.
At the time of inspection, there was no access to the interior. The former cottage is currently being used as a hen-house.
