Description
The structure consists of gates, gatepiers, and attached walls with railings that form the main entrance to Bailey Park. At the center is a broad vehicle gateway. The piers are designed in a Baroque style, made of rock-faced stone with upper sections in Bath stone featuring a red sandstone band and finials. The wrought iron gates have large square panels at the top, with scrolled bands on the sides and scrollwork at the tops. On each side of the gates, there are pedestrian gates of a similar design, supported by smaller piers topped with finials shaped like heraldic beasts.
Flanking the gates, there are low rock-faced walls that follow the line of the road, with iron railings. The walls are stepped to accommodate the slope of the ground, and the railings are arranged in rectangular panels linked by vertical panels that feature scrollwork. Each end of the structure is capped with a rock-faced stone pier, topped with Bath stone and a red sandstone band, showcasing classical detailing and a finial.
