Description
Castle Terrace, numbers 33a-47, is a terrace of Georgian houses located on the sloped road between Wye Bridge and the town centre. Each house is single fronted, standing three storeys high with a cellar, and features one window on each floor. The walls are scored and painted roughcast, topped with slate roofs and narrow brick stacks at the divisions.
The upper floor windows are typically 3/6-pane sashes set within reveals, while the first floor windows are generally 6/6-pane sashes. The ground floor windows are usually segmental bows with small panes, fixed but including single-pane opening lights, and there are deep plinths below. The houses have panelled doors within wooden door cases on the left, some of which include rectangular overlights and shallow wooden hoods supported by brackets, many of which are decorated with fretwork. Despite some alterations and variations in dimensions, the overall effect remains symmetrical.
One of the houses has paired sashes that replace the bow window.
