Description

Castle House is a house, dating from the 18th century. The walls are roughcast and painted, topped by a machine tile roof with a decorative moulded eaves cornice, and featuring a low rendered stack. The house has three storeys and a cellar. The front elevation has a two-window arrangement, with sash windows set within reveals. These windows have 4/8 panes to the top floor, paired 12-pane sashes to the first floor, and 16-pane sashes to the ground floor. A central doorway has a six-panelled door with panelled reveals, pilasters, and an open pediment hood. The uphill side has a shallow gabled bay with a sloping roof, indicating a former attachment, and small two-light windows on each of the three storeys. The rear elevation features a central arched sash window on the first floor and a central doorway with a panelled door and overlight. Internally, some shutters and panelled reveals remain.
