Description

Nos. 8 and 10 Glendower Street are a pair of late 18th century double-depth houses, rendered and painted with a Welsh slate roof. The houses are three storeys at the front, but only two storeys at the rear. The front elevation features two doors and three windows on each side (D:W:W:D:W), with a simple doorway to No. 8 and a wide, pedimented hood over the doorway of No. 10. Both houses have 4-panel doors. A projecting bay window is centrally positioned on the ground floor, featuring delicate rounded corner columns and small panes of glass (6 x 4, introduced after 1974); elements of this bay may originate from an early 19th century shop window. The remaining ground floor windows are casements with 3 + 3 panes. The upper floors contain five first floor windows and three second floor windows, all casement windows, with the second floor windows having 2 + 2 panes. A moderately pitched roof is topped by tall stacks on each gable. The rear elevation exhibits a steeper roof pitch due to the two-storey construction. Three small 20th century windows are present on the right return. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey.
