Description
Riverside House is an early 19th-century house that is stucco-rendered and painted, featuring a slate roof with two gabled dormers and rendered end stacks, the right one being taller. The house has a symmetrical front with a central gabled bay that slightly projects forward. It is two storeys high and has a three-window arrangement with sashes set in reveals; the first floor has 6-pane windows, while the ground floor features tripartite windows and 6-pane windows in the dormers. There are steps leading up to the central doorway, which has an archivolt with a keystone that extends to a string course and wide impost bands. The recessed door is framed by fluted quarter-round columns and has three horizontal panels with a fanlight above. The house also has a plinth and is complemented by wrought iron railings with spear and urn finials and scrolled supports on a low kerb, featuring central double gates.
Inside, there is a wide central hall with stairs that rise to the rear, featuring a wreathed handrail and stick balusters. The interior includes shutters, 6-panelled doors, one marble fireplace, and a fireplace in the servant room.
