Description
Hocker Hill House is a Georgian townhouse, attached on one side to an almshouse range. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a hipped slate roof with a deep-moulded dentilled cornice and overhanging eaves, along with a tall brick stack. The building has three storeys and a basement.
The façade includes a three-window range of sash windows in exposed wooden frames, with rubbed brick voussoirs, painted keystones, and sills. The top floor has 9-pane windows, while the first and ground floors have 12-pane windows. To the left, there is a square-headed doorway topped with an open triangular pediment supported by brackets, leading to a panelled part-glazed door. The house has a painted plinth and a railed forecourt that is raised above the road, accessed by nine steps. Below the forecourt, there is an entrance to the basement, which features scored render and a wide cambered carriage arch. The forecourt has 20th-century concrete tiling. Attached to the left side is a decorative wrought-iron gate with spear finials, providing access to an adjacent passage.
