Description
This is an outbuilding located to the south of Church Farmhouse, constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. It features a stone chimney at the north end. The west side facing the road has a boarded loft opening on the right and a small window in the center, with a straight joint between them. There is a small gabled addition at the south end. The original outside kitchen has been altered and includes outside steps at the north end leading to a loft door. The east side was not visible during the last survey in December 1999.
The original outside kitchen door, which has a shaped doorhead, is illustrated in Fox & Raglan volume 2, Figure 21, along with Plates 16a and 16c. To the left of this door is a chamfered timber mullion window, and another window is located further left. A loft light is also shown between the ground floor windows in the illustrations.
The interior was not available for inspection during the last survey. However, the Fox & Raglan plan (volume 2, Figure 29) depicts the outside kitchen with a large fireplace, a beam that is morticed for a lost partition, and removed stairs in the northwest corner. The loft features an upper cruck truss, which is illustrated in Figure 66, complete with a collar and angled blades.
